Best laptop 2022: top picks for every user and every budget

Evoz Tech

Editor’s note: June, 2022

We’re now into June, and for the moment, the 2020 MacBook Air remains our pick for the best laptop you can buy. It offers a thin and light design and excellent build quality and performance, and it’s a brilliant value for the money as well. The MacBook Air is often on sale (opens in new tab) due to its age, making it well worth buying.

The MacBook Air can actually save you money in the long run, too; MacBooks are famous for their longevity compared to Windows machines, so you could go eight years or more without needing a new laptop. Super-cheap Windows laptops aren’t really economical, as you end up replacing them more often, costing you more in the long run.

I say ‘for the moment’ because we could be literally days away from Apple announcing a new MacBook Air 2022 at its WWDC event, which starts on June 6. If it does reveal a new MacBook Air, and rumors are pointing to that being a distinct possibility, then there’s a good chance it could top our best laptop list.
